When You’re Out of Cash
and Needing Therapy

To be experiencing psychological distress at a time when you don’t have the finances to pay for therapy can be extremely difficult. The predicament of needing treatment and not being able to afford it may be enough reason not to seek the care you need. Although money may be a factor when seeking treatment, you may not want to let it get in the way of your mental wellness.

If you’re strapped for cash, you can still obtain high-quality therapy by using your credit card as a form of payment. At Carolina Counseling Services in Southern Pines, NC, there are licensed, independently contracted counselors who directly accept credit card as a form of payment for their therapy services.

Policies on the Use of Credit Card as Payment

When you choose to use this service, you will need to observe the following practices:

  • Your therapist will process your credit card at the time of your face-to-face meeting.
  • Your privacy is a sacred matter, thus you can expect that all measures will be taken to protect your personal information. No credit card information will be kept on file
  • Your willingness to provide your credit card information means you’re authorizing your therapist to charge your credit card at the time of service. Charges will be made only at time of service when you have produced your credit card for payment as credit card information will not be kept on file
  • Receipts are available upon request at time of service, ask your therapist for details.
  • In the event of no show or last minute cancellation, you will be able to pay for any incurred fees by using your credit card at your next session.

Other Credit or Debit Card Payment Options to Finance Your Therapy

(Our Contracted therapists who accept credit/debit cards also accept these cards via special arrangement)

  • Health Savings Account (HSA) Credit or Debit Card – You can spend your HSA money on qualified medical expenses for yourself, your spouse and other beneficiaries even if the person is not enrolled in your high-deductible health plan. The HSA card can be used to pay for what your insurance does not cover. Included in the qualified health care expenses are the services of certified therapists.
  • Flexible Spending Account (FSA) Credit or Debit Card – Also referred to as flexible spending arrangement, the FSA is a special tax-free account which you can use to pay for certain medical expenses, including copayments and deductibles. This can be available to you if you’re an employee with job-based health plans. Your employer has the option to contribute to your FSA. The maximum limit is set up to $2,500 a year and the money must be used within the plan year.

Money can be a concern when seeking treatment. Discussing financial obligations directly and honestly with your provider may be far better than not getting the treatment you may need. Whether you opt to use a credit card, HSA or FSA for your therapy, you deserve quality care. The licensed, independently contracted therapists with Carolina Counseling Services – Southern Pines, NC, are committed to providing the best possible care regardless of your payment option.
